If you feel it's time to get off the bike, it probably is. Although we all feel the loss of a Savage bro, it would be a greater loss to stay with it when you knew it was time to quit, and have an accident. You don't heal as fast at 66, and that's for sure.
I'm 55, and have been very fortunate in not ever having gone down (except for 1 minor incident with my 1st bike in '63 -- nothing to speak of, though). Hope I never do go down, 'cause I'd rather ride than anything else (several hobbies).
